Wireless ic specialist Spreadtrum has received a $1.3billion takeover bid from the investment arm of Beijing-based Tsinghua University.
Confirming the offer today, Tsinghua Unigroup said it sees the acquisition as an 'excellent strategic fit' with its overall commercial objectives.
"Unigroup is excited about the proposed acquisition of Spreadtrum and the strategic opportunity this transaction provides given the strength of this leading China-based business," noted chairman and ceo Zhao Weiguo. "We are enthusiastic about Spreadtrum's business and market position globally and here in China." |
